TF2: What’s the Best Crate to Unbox?

Team Fortress 2 can be overwhelming, especially if you haven’t played for a while. In addition to stealing enemy territories and intelligence, you need to manage things like crates.

Some crates will completely change how you play this game. Others are barely worth your time at all. That brings us to the question: what’s the best crate to unbox in TF2?

Salvaged Mann Co. Supply Crate #30

You’ll quickly notice all of the crates on this list are from the “Salvaged Mann Co. Supply Crate” series. These are much rarer than other crates you may encounter. At the same time, though, these crates offer the best items to players.

If you can only unbox one crate, we recommend the Salvaged Mann Co. Supply Crate #30. What do you get in the box? A Strange Gunslinger, Strange Krtizkrieg, Strange Machina, and a Series 2 Unusual.

While the latter two are useful and valuable, the best things in this box are the Gunslinger and the Kritzkrieg.

Salvaged Mann Co. Supply Crate #50

The Salvaged Mann Co. Supply Crate #50 isn’t quite as good as #30. At the same time, this is still one of the best possible crates for you to unbox.

Inside the crate, you’ll find Strange Bacon Grease, Strange Original, Strange PDA, and the potential for Unusuals from Series 1, 2, and 3. While everything in here is handy, we particularly love the Bacon Grease because it helps make your Frying Pan strange as well.

As with all of the items in these crates, keep in mind that anything you don’t want is still worth quite a bit!

Salvaged Mann Co. Supply Crate #40

Didn’t snag Crate #30 or Crate #50? Don’t worry: it turns out that Supply Crate #40 is still a great item to unbox!

What do you get in this particular crate? The Strange Huntsman, Strange Widowmaker, and potentially any unusual from Series 1-3.

We’re fond of both the weapons inside, though the Strange Huntsman is arguably the better find. As always, what is “best” in this box all comes down to who your favorite characters are and how you like to play the game.

Select Reserve Mann Co. Supply Crate #60

The Select Reserve Mann Co. Supply Crate #60 is the last crate on our list. However, what’s inside this crate is still good enough to forever change how you play Team Fortress 2!

In Crate #60, you get the Strange Loose Cannon. On top of that, you will get Series 1-3 Unusuals and Random Strangifiers.

Long story short? If the Loose Cannon doesn’t do it for you, this crate is still worthwhile because you might get very lucky with the Strangifiers.
